In the middle of a heat wave, with an expiration date for this Wednesday, the State Meteorological Agency in the Valencian Community warned yesterday afternoon of storms in the interior of Valencia and in the northern interior of Castellón. Little precipitation with probable very strong gusts of wind that coexisted at the same time with high temperatures in other areas of the territory, since in the early afternoon both Utiel and the town of Jalance registered 40.1 and 39.9 degrees, respectively.
With this scenario, the AEMET updated the emergency notices yesterday and maintained an orange alert in the interior of Alicante due to temperatures above 40 degrees; Yellow level on the southern coast of Alicante, northern interior of Valencia and southern interior of the same province due to thermometers above 36 and 38 degrees.
Yesterday afternoon, the highest temperatures were 40.1 degrees in Utiel and 39.9 degrees in Jalance, in the early afternoon. According to data from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) at 3:42 p.m., the heat wave also left temperatures of 38.8 degrees in Villena; 38.7 in Ademuz, 38.5 in Pinoso; 38.2 in Alkoy; or 35.8 degrees in Xàtiva.
In Llíria the thermometers reached 34.7 degrees; in El Altet at 34.4; in Xàbia at 33.4; in Manises at 32.9 degrees; in Vilafranca del Cid at 32.3; in Castellón at 32; in Polinyà del Xúquer at 31.4; in Castellfort and Miramar at 31.2; and in Morella at 30.9 degrees.
The prediction for this Wednesday is for a predominance of slightly cloudy skies without ruling out evolutionary cloudiness and occasional storms in inland areas starting at noon; probability of haze in the southern third and of suspended dust in high areas of the rest of the region. Maximum temperatures with few changes on the north coast and decreasing in the rest, with values that, as stated by the notice, could reach 40 degrees in interior areas of Valencia and Alicante; as well as decreasing minimum temperatures in the interior of Castellón and rising in Alicante. Light to moderate wind from north and east components on the coast and variable light in the interior.
