Guim Costa Calsamiglia has been elected as the new dean of the College of Architects of Catalonia (COAC) after winning the elections held on May 16 and 17 by just 5 votes against the second place candidate, Manuel Ruisánchez.

Costa, who will be in charge during the period 2022-2026, will form the Governing Board with Gemma Ferré Pueyo as secretary, Imanol Montero Viar as treasurer and Inés de Rivera Marinel • lo, Greta Tresserra Sans and Pep Quilez Soler as members .

The new dean has been satisfied with the results and has stated that "architects have voted for a new, transversal and inclusive school". He has also announced that he wants to start the mandate "with an intense agenda of meetings with the administration to put the new stage on track and begin the fulfillment of our project for the COAC."

With a degree in architecture from the ETSAB, Costa began his career collaborating with the Terradas brothers, Josep Llinàs and Ignasi de Solà-Morales. Since 1998 he has developed architecture and urban planning projects of national and international scope from his studio.

His relationship with the COAC began in 1998, when he became a member of Cultural Diffusion of the Barcelona Demarcation until 2002. During Assumpció Puig's mandate, Costa held the position of deputy dean of the Governing Board.

About 11,000 architects attached to the COAC were summoned to elect the governing bodies, as well as the representatives in the Assembly. A total of 2,084 have participated in the electoral process. The inauguration of the new elected officials will take place on June 15.
