Girona with a 'runner's eye'

I captured these photographs for The Readers' Photos of La Vanguardia in the morning while I was running with my sister. From the Canalejas bridge we have wonderful views.

Girona is a pleasant city to run in when you wake up in the morning, with a network of bridges over the river that offer the possibility of taking splendid snapshots.

One of them is the Pont d'en Gómez, also known as the Princess Bridge or the Creu Blanca Bridge. It saves the Onyar river by linking the Sant Feliu climb, through a pass under a building, the Casa Miquel Gómez, with the José Canalejas walk.

We can appreciate the beautiful morning reflections of the houses on the Onyar River, which is a tributary of the Ter, which rises in the Guilleries massif, in the pre-coastal mountain range, and enters the heart of Girona, forming part of its urban landscape.

The Onyar crosses the city from south to north, dividing it into two unequal parts. The largest, the oldest, is on the right bank; and the smallest, the most modern, in continuous growth, is located entirely on the plain and in the Mercadal, on the left bank.

The beautiful Onyar Houses, built on the banks of this river, are very close to the Cathedral, and are one of the most photographed icons of Girona.
