Girona is left without a final miracle in Getafe

It took too long for the cheerful and forceful Girona that had overwhelmed Almería and assaulted San Mamés to appear in Getafe and this cost them defeat. The disconnection at the beginning was rude and Míchel's men lost their hallmarks and were shaken with anger by a rival who lived on the brink of a nervous breakdown until yesterday. Before the quarter of an hour the Girones team had already kneeled by conceding two goals as a result of two children's mistakes. The third, before the break, shelved a completely inexplicable game at the beginning. The goals from Castellanos and Miguel Gutiérrez in the second half left the miracle close.

Girona lacked hunger to eat Getafe, but also precision and concentration to impose their game plan. The locals transformed their enormous need (they came to the game in relegation) into greater aggressiveness to be superior to their rival in all facets of the game. Quique Sánchez Flores' men drowned out Girona's much-lauded ball release with great forward pressure and were even able to win possession despite not being lovers of elaborate play and of direct football.

The goals were not long in coming. The first (min. 2) was a gift from Santi Bueno. In his intention to start from behind with a pause, Munir, key with a recovery and an assist, intercepted the ball and Mayoral conceded the goal to Ünal, only on the penalty spot. He still hadn't understood how to deal with Girona's problems, when the second came (min.14). A cross to the area touched the arm of Javi Hernández, very little awake in the action. Ünal scored the second penalty with a powerful, cornered shot.

Getafe's trident was able to extend the score shortly after. Once again Munir deepened on the left and his shot inadvertently took him a meter away from the Enes Ünal goal. But before the break came the sentence in another counterattack. Munir found Mayoral in the area, who connected a dry and impossible shot for Gazzaniga.

Michel's response was a triple change with which he granted breaks and sought to change dynamics. Getafe did not give up the fourth when Girona found a silver lining in a counterattack. Tsigankov assisted Taty Castellanos in the box after a gutsy solo run down the right flank.

Getafe became a much more prudent team after the goal. It was time for Girona to uncover the box of thunder. Reinier was the next ingredient for Míchel. And with just over ten minutes to go, Miguel Gutiérrez hit a shot from the front that surprised everyone. Míchel's team, who always arrived late in Getafe, couldn't take it anymore.
