Gamarra shields Feijóo's leadership and places Aguirre's criticism outside of "the unity" of the party

The general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, has tried to nip any parallel debate in the bud and has categorically denied that there is any "controversy" about the leadership of Alberto Núñez Feijóo, after the former Madrid president, Esperanza Aguirre, suggested that the future of the party goes through Isabel Díaz Ayuso.

Gamarra has insisted that the "unity" around the leader of the popular is "unquestionable" and has distorted Aguirre's words by placing them outside the functioning of the party.

"I have not spoken with her (...) but it has already been made explicit in what context this controversy occurred" - alluding to the fact that Aguirre expressed his feelings in a personal capacity in a colloquium in which the PP did not participate - "and that issue It is absolutely settled."This party, at the moment, is one man," he stressed to finish detracting from the former Madrid president's commitment to relieve Feijóo for Ayuso.

The leader of the PP has stressed that "they are all focused on what is important and they are all behind whoever has won the elections", especially when, as she has said, "in a year and a half" Feijóo "has managed to win the Popular Party municipal and regional elections" and also the general ones.

Neutralized the internal controversy, Gamarra has insisted on Feijóo's vocation to try to form a government no matter how many doors are closed to him and has urged the acting head of the Executive and PSOE general secretary, Pedro Sánchez, to "put his shoulder together" with the leader of the party that won the elections instead of "obsessing about blocking" either with a repeat election or with the configuration of a government of "absolute paralysis".

The general secretary of the popular has repeatedly referred to the "responsibility" of the PP when it comes to "leading the formation of a government" and has criticized the socialist euphoria, pointing out that Spain "cannot be here for many parties given the difficulty for the governance".

The popular ones denounce that Sánchez "seems to be obsessed" with the scenario of the "blockade" due to the "impossibility", they predict, of governing relying on "independentistas, Bildu and fugitives from Justice" such as the former president of the Generalitat de Catalunya Carles Puigdemont.

For all this, Gamarra has insisted that "what is reasonable, what gives moderation, serenity and stability is that the PP leads" the future Government of Spain and that the PSOE "brings its shoulder".
