Feijóo promises a face to face with Sánchez and the PSOE accuses him of wanting to hide his program

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has assured this Tuesday that he has "no problem" in debating with the Prime Minister and has confirmed that in the electoral campaign of the general elections on July 23 he is willing to hold a face-to-face face with Pedro Sánchez, while the PSOE accuses him of trying to hide his program for refusing to hold six debates, as the head of the Executive put on the table yesterday.

"I have no problem having a face-to-face debate with Mr. Sánchez. There is going to be a face-to-face between Mr. Sánchez and me in the electoral campaign," Feijóo guaranteed in an interview on Onda Cero, a day after Sanchez's offer.

Simultaneously, the PSOE spokesperson, Pilar Alegría, in an interview on TVE, has accused the popular leader of "trying to hide" his project for Spain. "I understand that when you don't want to debate it can be for two reasons; one, because you don't have a project, or, two, because you intend to hide that project. I don't know which of these two issues is more serious," she snapped.

The popular leader has answered at the moment assuring that he is not going to "hide from Mr. Sánchez" but has reproached the president for his strategy. "Debates are not forced, they are negotiated," Feijóo has countered. "A man who has not wanted to discuss state affairs with the opposition has no legitimacy to impose a debate," replied the PP candidate, who demanded that the PSOE general secretary "leave the groups and campaign managers that they decide what the format is and how many, which ones and where".

In this sense, Alegría has confirmed that the Socialists have already contacted the general coordinator of the PP, Elías Bendodo, to "sit down and negotiate" the basic rules of these debates. In any case, the socialist spokeswoman wanted to make it clear that her formation has limited itself to accepting the proposals made by the large communication groups and that now they only await Feijóo's response, "if he accepts or if he hides". .

Alegría has also responded to the PP campaign spokesman, Borja Sémper, who yesterday called the proposal for the six debates "eccentricity". "What is eccentric is not making debates possible," said the also Minister of Education, who, addressing the journalists, questioned them. "You have raised one of these debates. You are not eccentric for bringing us face to face," she warned.

Alegría has valued the fact that these debates "contrast the different opinions" on "fundamental issues" that "affect people" because this is "positive" for the citizens who are going to vote on 23-J and specifically it has been asked what Feijóo thinks of the revaluation of pensions or the increase in the budget for university scholarships. "What fear are they in debating?", has been questioned.
