Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo and Borja Semper will accompany Alberto Núñez Feijóo on the list for Madrid in the July 23 elections, according to sources from the PP national leadership. However, it is unknown what position in the candidacy they will occupy, although it does not seem that the deputy, critical of Feijóo as much as she was of Pablo Casado, is going to occupy number two.
Sources close to the president of the PP assure that Núñez Feijóo does not give special importance to who occupies number two on the list, which for example in the case of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez has reserved for his third vice-presidency, since the first, Nadia Calviño, has chosen to go on the charts. However, in sectors of the PP they point to Cuca Gamarra, for being the two of the party. In the previous elections she went for La Rioja.
In the case of Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, she was the head of the PP list for Barcelona in 2019. Álvarez de Toledo herself thanked in a Twitter message that the PP president had decided to count on her. “Absolutely for the majority. Thank you Núñez Feijóo ”, who raised the hare about the decision of the PP leader.
As for Semper, it is not the first time that he will go on the lists for Congress, although the two previous times he did so for Guipúzcoa and neither of them won a seat. He will now do it for Madrid. With these appointments, Feijóo wants to show that people as different as Álvarez de Toledo and Borja Semper fit into his project, who have even held conflicting positions on ETA.
