Feijóo accuses Sánchez of committing historical "irresponsibility"

Political irresponsibility and historical naivete. It is the reaction of the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to the announcement by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, last night, in a television interview, to suppress the crime of sedition from the Penal Code, for which the Catalan independence leaders were convicted, and replace it with a crime of aggravated public disorder, with a substantial reduction in penalties.

The announcement caught Feijóo on the plane that was bringing him back to Spain, having just started his trip from Ecuador to Spain, after a week of touring four Latin American countries, so he did not have the opportunity to express a reaction to the decision. of Sanchez.

Today, as soon as he landed in Spain, Alberto Núñez Feijóo gave his opinion on what happened, which he described as "historical irresponsibility". In two Twitter messages, the president of the PP claims to feel "he is right that Sánchez always puts his political interest above that of Spain."

For Feijóo "it is historically irresponsible to correct the work of the Supreme Court at the hands of the condemned." He also considers that he is also "greatly naive", because, he warns the President of the Government, "the independence movement never, ever settles."

In another Twitter message, the president of the PP is convinced that "there is a social majority that does not accept more lies from this government, no more blackmail from the independence movement", because Feijóo is what he believes is the reform of the Penal Code, a transfer to pro-independence blackmail, and a payment to support the budgets. That is why Alberto Núñez Feijóo gives his word to the Spaniards that "together we will return to Spain the democratic quality it deserves".

In the same vein, the general secretary of the PP, Cuca Navarra, stated that she considers that the intentions of the Prime Minister are extremely serious, and also the fact that he is going to carry out the reform through a bill, thus avoiding reports mandatory, although not binding, of the General Council of the Judiciary and the Council of State.

In addition, the number two of the PP underlines the "great lie of Sánchez", who presented himself in the elections saying that he would bring Puigdemont to Spain to appear before the Justice; that it would typify the calling of an illegal referendum as a crime, and that it would increase the penalties for the crimes of sedition and rebellion.

For Gamarra, the only thing Sánchez does with this reform is "buy time at any price to stay in La Moncloa". In his opinion, Sánchez, as always, "having to choose between Montesquieu and Machiavelli, has chosen Machiavelli, and" the end justifies the means ".

The PP considers that the disappearance of the crime of sedition "is a reform made to order so that those who were accountable to the Justice benefit, and to correct the sentences of those convicted and that they can stand for election."

For this reason, and as it did last night, the PP calls on the socialist barons to speak out and say in public what they say in private, since, Gamarra assures, there are many PSOE leaders who do not agree, and that he considers that the sentences "for those who gave a coup to the state in 2017" should not be reduced. But he is sure that "the Spanish do not forget."
