For days now, meteorologists have been telling us that temperatures are going to drop. Well, let them go down, but let it not freeze, although, in fact, it is already being announced.
Farmers live waiting to see if they lose the harvest because there is not enough rain. In fact, they have already told me that the Urgell vineyard is all lost.
And now, if the frost comes, it kills the fruits of the trees and the little that is alive in the crops of this region. The saying "you are worse than the late cold" will be easy to explain now, unfortunately.
Therefore, this week is going to be crucial for the farmers of Urgell and, surely, other regions, who will be aware of how much the temperatures drop and how much it freezes.
It must rain now and above all it must not freeze. Three days in a row of freezing can mean the end of the season for farmers.
In these photographs taken on the outskirts of the town of Altet you can see the almond trees full of their fruits. Yes, from almond trees, not almonds.
Almond trees are almond projects, in my youth they could be eaten and were good. Now I do not advise it if the farmer does not give you permission, since there may be pesticides or other liquids.
All told, well, no... "Alea jacta est", the die is cast for the peasants. In addition, they have to live with another inconvenience: the plague of rabbits.
