Everything to return, return, return...

All's well That ends well. The second trip of King Juan Carlos to Spain began badly; La Zarzuela, who knew of his intention to return to Sanxenxo, but not when, ended up finding out from the press the exact date thanks to the indiscretion of a businessman who did not have time to filter the news. What was presented as a new source of controversy has ended up being, however, the demonstration that, if he wants, King Juan Carlos can normalize his visits to Spain until they stop being news.

The last point where King Juan Carlos was before getting on a plane and leaving Spain was Sanxenxo (Pontevedra), where he spent on Sunday, August 2, 2020. The following day the letter was made public in which, whoever was King of Spain between November 22, 1975 and June 18, 2014, communicated to his son and successor, Felipe VI, his intention to move to live outside of Spain. The appearance of information about his financial irregularities put such pressure on the Crown that there was no other way out than the self-exile of King Juan Carlos, but it was not for a few months as planned, but for a time that has not yet ended.

The Galician town was, on May 19, 2022, after several frustrated attempts, the scene of his first trip and eleven months later it has been the scene of his second visit to Spain. Sanxenxo has become the particular promised land of Juan Carlos de Borbón, but he has had to wait for a second attempt after the first one was unsuccessful.

When he returns to Abu Dhabi, where he has established his permanent and fiscal residence of his own free will, King Juan Carlos will be able to argue that he has complied with the commitment to discretion that he suffered on the first trip and will have guaranteed new visits to Spanish territory.

King Juan Carlos had sent Zarzuela, supposedly directly to his son, his intention to be present in the series of tests of the Spanish Cup of the 6M class that would serve as training with the intention of participating, to end of August, in the World Championship to be held on the Isle of Wight (England). The fact that the answer was that he avoided a trip during the electoral period only hindered the already complicated communication between Abu Dhabi and Madrid. Not even in the Zarzuela did they understand that a regatta was enough reason for a trip, nor did King Juan Carlos accept that his decision be questioned. Result: a new disagreement.

La Zarzuela feared that the image of last year would be repeated, with Juan Carlos imprisoned by his own character and giving arguments to those who take advantage of the opportunity to question the Crown. His presence in Spain generates expectation, puts the spotlight on Zarzuela and questions the relationship between king father and king son.

This trip, if it does not go awry at the last moment, with that last stage outside of Sanxenxo and close to who knows where, if it has been of any use, it is to set a new course, and in the hands of King Juan Carlos it is not to leave for other courses.
