The literary critic died at the age of 86, after suffering a heart attack at his home in Castilfrio (Soria), where he lived with his partner, Emma Nogueiro. Now, Emma returns to the present after publishing her book Querido Nano, where she brings to light the letters that Sánchez Dragó and his mother sent each other for many years. Nogueiro has opened up about his partner in an interview with Informalia.
As the woman explained, this book has been her consolation when coping with the loss. As we said, the work compiles the conversations between mother and son, which are so intense and descriptive that Emma could not help but convince the couple about her when she “discovered” these letters. “After weeks of reading I understood that it was material of the highest literary quality and it had to be put in black on white and draw a story,” she says, in an interview with Informalia.
Regarding the writing process, he assured the aforementioned media that “it was such a special book that I enjoyed doing it so much that he was delighted.” However, not everything was easy. “It was a difficult process because the documentation was overwhelming, but I had a great time arranging and choosing the cards and being inspired by this book where everything that is told is true. The magic is that people can learn about the amount of adventures, readings and trips that Fernando had,” he revealed.
Emma also opened up about what life is like without him. She claims that she is “tough” because he “filled everything.” “He had such a capacity for fun, generosity and knowledge that he made the days with him a real party,” he said, explaining that now it is “another different stage” in which he must gradually seek “new concerns or “intentions.” ”. She claims that he always taught her to be happy.
As for grief, he assures that one never completely overcomes the death of a loved one. “Not being able to see or touch that person... I don't think it will be possible, although it is true that with the publication of this book I have noticed him very close and it has made me not feel alone,” he said, about overcoming the death of the person who made her happy in recent years. Regarding the writer, she assured that “he was wonderful and did not have a single defect that would make him want to modify something.”
