El Puigmal above the church of Campdevànol

On a spectacular morning I was able to capture these images for The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia with Puigmal over the Campdevànol church, in the Ripollès region.

We can also appreciate the town under the clouds and the sky of the candilazo of the first hours of the day, when the phenomenon of the arrebol occurs.

El Puigmal, in Alta Cerdanya, is the second highest mountain in the province of Girona, with 2914 meters, and is located on the border between Spain and France.

Located between the municipalities of Queralbs (Ripollès) and Err (Alta Cerdanya, Eastern Pyrenees), the Puigmal is the highest of the peaks that make up the so-called Gran Olla that surrounds the Vall de Núria.

It is a wide and rounded top. And its ascent is easy if the weather conditions are not very adverse. At its summit there is a forged iron cross and a plaque with verses by Jacint Verdaguer.

In addition to the surrounding natural landscapes, Campdevànol has urban walks and this parish temple that dates back to the 18th century, although it was rebuilt in 1945 due to the aftermath of the civil war and the 1944 earthquake.

The temple is part, along with a farmhouse and the cemetery, of an architectural complex of high quality and conservation.

Campdevànol stands out for its location under Mount Puigmal, portrayed with this perspective of the fantastic 46-meter bell tower, today an icon of the municipality.
