Complicated moments for Miguel Báez, popularly known as 'El Litri'. As revealed exclusively by the magazine dedicated to the world of the heart Lecturas, the Prosecutor's Office has initiated legal proceedings against the livestock businessman due to two alleged crimes.
After the environmental organization WWF (World Wildlife Fund or World Wildlife Fund in Spanish) denounced him, the Environmental Prosecutor's Office of Seville has filed a complaint against the extorero for a crime against the environment and another crime of damage to the hydraulic public domain, which is estimated in our country at 574,308 euros, more than half a million euros.
According to the complainants, 'El Litri' would have been illegally irrigating a farm he owned near the Doñana Park aquifer and would have extracted some 2,000 million cubic meters of water for more than four years without legal authorization. The tabloid magazine has gone deeper into the matter and has reported that the successful businessman supposedly extracted water from four wells to irrigate a farm he bought in 2019. Said property (called Carrascalejo) is located about 40 kilometers from the city of Seville, more specifically in the area surrounding the Guadiamar River, one of the most important tributaries of the marshes of the Doñana National Park. Furthermore, said land is classified as dry land.
A very important fact must be noted in the investigation of the case, and that is that, although the Prosecutor's Office requested several months ago that the former bullfighter give a statement as an investigator in court, he has not wanted to take the step and contribute to the process. Furthermore, he has declared himself innocent.
Although the protagonist has not given his version publicly at the moment, his lawyer has spoken with the Spanish newspaper El País and has assured that it is an unfair situation and that the complaint in question "is an exemplary action and a mockery with his client, given his media projection".
