The company Ecofrog, based in Rubí, has found a business opportunity with the sale of cleaning systems to the restaurant, hospitality and food sectors.
The company has closed the 2023 financial year with a growth of 20% compared to the previous year, going from approximately 2.3 to 2.7 million euros. The ebitda (gross profit) has stood at 15% of total sales. The founder of the business, Irene Santamaría, explains that the key lies in the product it offers its customers: an ozone generation system that allows you to clean and disinfect surfaces with a high degree of effectiveness.
The business idea arose in 2015, when the entrepreneur decided to clean her home with ozone machines in water. “I realized the disinfectant potential and decided to go for it,” says the owner of the company. With a team of 15 people, Ecofrog has patented a system that has convinced renowned chefs, such as Jordi Cruz, the Torres brothers or Jordi Esteve.
Among its clients are restaurants but also hotels, catering companies for communities and companies in the agri-food sector. “We sell to our clients directly and indirectly, through distributors that have an international presence,” he says. In fact, 20% of its sales occur in European and Latin American countries.
This year, the company has set the goal of starting to sell to large corporations and obtaining documentation that proves the effectiveness of its disinfection system in the different countries where it is present.
