Early morning at the summit of Matagalls

I have captured this photograph for La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos at the top of Matagalls at dawn, when you can see the frosty ground.

The Matagalls is a mountain of 1698 meters of altitude, located between the municipalities of Brull and Viladrau in the region of Osona, and that of Montseny, in the Vallès Oriental.

The Creu de Matagalls is a cross planted at the top of this mountain, which is not the highest in Montseny, but is exceeded by a few meters by Turó del Home and Les Agudes.

The Coll Formic - Cruz de Matagalls route is the shortest and easiest ascent. A difference in altitude of 553 meters is overcome and it can be done in an hour and a quarter. If the day is clear, there are very wide panoramic views.

In this case, we see the effects of frost with the winter night frost, a meteorological phenomenon that consists of a drop in ambient temperature to levels below the freezing point of water and causes the water or vapor that is in the air freezes, depositing it as ice on surfaces.
