Discover the ghost birds of the Ter

These images in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia reveal to us the ghost birds of the Ter. The arctic smoke generates an atmosphere of mystery around the birds that make life in the river in spring.

With the contrast in temperatures between the water and the outside, when the sun rises the water smokes and produces that smoke, known as "arctic smoke".

Spring nights are cool and, when it is daylight, with a clear sky this helps to form this steaming water.

The Ter river rises in Ulldeter at 2,480 meters of altitude, at the foot of a glacial cirque in the Pyrenean region of Ripollès, very close to the town of Setcases.

The images have been captured as the Ter passes through Manlleu. The Camí Vora Ter starts in Torelló and stretches for 20 kilometers accompanying the river through small towns until it precisely reaches the town of Manlleu.
