Discover the free, open-air spa

Between the towns of Avinyó and Artés, in the Bages region, we can find an open-air spa that we can enjoy without paying anything.

As we can see in this photographic report in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia, it is a spring of water, loaded with salt, iron and that comes out somewhat lukewarm, neither hot nor cold.

It is curious that, with the severe drought and heat that this region of Catalonia has suffered, this attractive spring emerged for those who want to relax in this totally natural open-air spa.

By the way, the place where the water comes out is called Torrent Salat and its red waters flow into the Riera de la Gavarresa. And another curiosity is that, in Catalonia, we can find up to 5 Torrent Salat: this one from Avinyó (Bages); that of Bassella (Alt Urgell); that of Peramola (Alt Urgell); that of Vilanoveta (Pallars Jussà) and that of Segarra (Segarra county).

The Torrent Salat de Avinyó is also known as the Abadal, with water with a concentration of 23,000 mg of chloride per liter, as salty as sea water. The salinity of the torrent remains at an average value of 15,000 mg Cl/L.
