At 38 years old, and after spending half his life dedicated to Joventut, the time has come for Dani Miret to take the reins of the team of his life. "I want to impose a 100% Penya style," said the coach from Badalona in the presentation as the new coach of Joventut, replacing Carles Duran, dismissed due to the poor accumulated results (six consecutive defeats, five in the ACB).
"What depends on us is that in the next game that people come to see us, they see that we are competitive with a home style," hopes Dani Miret, who had until now been Duran's assistant.
"In these six remaining games I want to get the most out of the team and be competitive. I want to connect as much as possible with our seal, show what Penya is," he commented.
Miret, who has signed as coach of the green and black first team until June 2026, started at the Badalona club in 2007, going through all the teams at the base.
Promoted to the first team technical staff with Carles Duran in the 2019-20 season. In 2020-21 he was the coach responsible for the promotion to LEB Oro of CB Prat, the team linked to Joventut. At the same time, he was the Spanish U-19 coach, with whose team he won gold at the 2023 World Cup last summer.
Demand will be Miret's hallmark. "There are players who are below their level and I have made it known to all of them. They have to react and give their maximum performance," he said in his presentation.
According to the entity's sports director, Jordi Martí, Aleix Duran will become Miret's first assistant and David Jimeno the second.
Its debut will be this Sunday on the Real Madrid court (6:30 p.m.), the second place in the Endesa League. Joventut is tenth in the table with 14 wins and 14 losses.
