Criticism of the response of the Community of Madrid after the defense of the public health of the widow of Saura

The gala of the 37th edition of the Goya Awards that were held last night at the FIBES Conference and Exhibition Center in Madrid was a tribute and a farewell from the world of cinema to the director Carlos Saura, who died last Friday at the age of 91. The gala was a tribute to his figure and even his widow, Eulalia Ramón, conveyed the filmmaker's last words to the film community. Despite the emotion, the unfortunate responses to Ramón's words in the mouth of Saura by the Community of Madrid and its president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, through Twitter have raised a great deal of controversy.

When picking up the honorary Goya that was to be delivered to Saura, Ramón read a posthumous note from the filmmaker, in which he thanked "all the health personnel and also the Villalba home palliative care team."

"Thank you for how you have taken care of us and make everything very sad but very beautiful. And we think that public health deserves to be taken care of just as public personnel take care of us. I tell it to whom it may concern," added the widow of Saura.

The official Twitter account of the Community of Madrid stepped forward to try to point out Eulalia Ramón's supposed ignorance about hospital management and, in turn, take advantage of it to praise the health management in the territory. "The widow of Carlos Saura has thanked the work of the Villalba hospital. And has asked that Public Health care be taken care of. She does not have to know, no patient has to know, that this hospital is public-private management, that it also it works," the tweet said.

Ayuso took the opportunity to reinterpret the words of the director's widow and thank her for the "tribute" to the Madrid health system.

"We all believe in our health, we work for the best," Díaz Ayuso asserted in a post on his Twitter profile, in which he applauded the words of Saura's partner about the Villalba Hospital.

This reaction has raised a multitude of criticisms from all sectors, from culture to health itself, who have denounced both the community and its president for trying to get electoral gain from a speech by a woman who lost her husband last Friday.

Precisely, the residents of the neighborhoods and towns of the Community of Madrid will carry out this Sunday a new demonstration in defense of public health with which they seek to unite the feelings of professionals and citizens in a new 'uprising' against the dismantling of the system health, mainly Primary Care.

The appointment has the support of more than 74 social organizations. In addition to neighborhood groups, unions, political parties of the left, health associations or worker platforms, among others, faces of culture such as Rozalén, Carlos Bardem, Luis Pastor, Juan Echanove, Juan Diego Botto, Alberto San Juan or Antonio de la Torre.
