Congress gives way to Vox's motion of no confidence by meeting the requirements

The Table of Congress has given free rein this Tuesday to Vox's motion of censure against the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and has admitted it for processing because it meets the requirements of having been presented by at least one tenth of the deputies, with a motivated writing and with the acceptance of a candidate.

The Vox motion registered on February 27 has arrived today at the Congress Table to receive its approval, although the date of its debate and vote will have to be announced by the president of the Congress, Meritxell Batet, as established in the Regulations of the Low camera.

Once the governing body of Congress has verified that the motion of censure meets all the requirements indicated and includes a candidate -in this case the professor and economist Ramón Tamames-, who has accepted the candidacy, Batet will give an account of his Presentation to the President of the Government and the spokespersons of the parliamentary groups.

Vox has urged Batet on several occasions to rule as soon as possible on the day of the debate and the vote, although he wants the motion to be brought to the plenary session of Congress before Easter to move it away from the pre-campaign for the next regional and municipal elections. of May 28.

However, sources around Santiago Abascal point out that the irruption of the Mediator case that affects the PSOE could have an impact on the final date of the debate, understanding that "it will be when it suits Pedro Sánchez."

The same sources, on the other hand, have ruled out the possibility that Vox will withdraw its initiative. The differences that exist between the party and Ramón Tamames are not an argument for not going ahead with the motion, they point out.

Precisely, the Vox spokesman in Congress, Iván Espinosa, insisted today at a press conference that they have said "many times that Mr. Tamames is not from Vox, just as Vox is not from Tamames." He has defended that "precisely the richness of this motion is to show that people from different fields agree with us in the analysis of the situation, which is that we must ensure that this government leaves as soon as possible."

And he has reiterated that if the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, considers that the general elections should be brought forward to "throw out Pedro Sánchez" and that there be an electoral "super Sunday", what he should do is "support the motion" of Vox .
