Ciutat Meridiana, the 'Sanchist' fiefdom of Barcelona

Rarely has a victory for the PSC in Barcelona been so indisputable. The Socialists have not only prevailed in 9 of the 10 districts of Barcelona but they have also done so in the vast majority of the 73 neighborhoods of the city. Only the PP has challenged them and snatched first place in the remaining 5, all of them coinciding with territories with the highest income in the city: Pedralbes, Sarrià, les Tres Torres, Sant Gervasi-la Bonanova and Sant Gervasi-Galvany.

In many neighborhoods, the Socialists get more than 40% of the votes cast, but if there are two Sanchista strongholds in the city, they are Ciutat Meridiana, in the Nou Barris district, and Baró de Viver, in Sant Andreu. In both, the PSC garnered more than half of the votes yesterday. In Ciutat Meridiana, 53.8% took to the bag and in Baró de Viver 50.5%.

The results of the PSC are excellent throughout the city, even in neighborhoods that have historically been very elusive to its interests. The worst registered for Salvador Illa's party is, as always, that of Pedralbes, although even in this neighborhood they were the second political force with a not inconsiderable 16.8%, yes, a long way from a PP that swept the richest neighborhood in the city with 43.5%.

Sumar, faithful to the tradition of the communes, achieves its best electoral spoils in the neighborhoods of Clota (28.2%) and in Sant Pere, Santa Caterina and la Ribera (26.2%).

The PP's black hole is in middle-class neighborhoods with a strong Catalanist component, such as Vila de Gràcia (8.5%) or Poblenou (9.4%). Quite the opposite to ERC, which precisely achieves its best result in Poblenou (17.1%). The worst, in Ciutat Meridiana (4.4%) and Pedralbes (4.7%).

Junts remains strong, although weakened compared to other elections, in Sarrià (17.9%). And Vox has its best record in Torre Baró (14.5%).
