Christmas without the black king: the controversial Cáceres poster that excludes Baltasar from the parade

Controversy is brewing in Cáceres over the advertising choice of the image of this year's parade. The town's City Council, currently governed by the Cáceres Popular Party, published this Tuesday on social media an illustration of the arrival of the Three Wise Men without one of their three iconic figures, Baltasar, the black king.

This was replaced by another white-skinned king, making the second group, the socialists, see and directly compare the influence of VOX, with two councilors in the council, in this matter. This is how Belén Fernández Casero, councilor of the PSOE, expressed it in a tweet where she, in an ironic tone, defined this year's edition as the parade "more inclusive and accessible than ever." In turn, the spokesperson for Unidas por Extremadura has also dedicated a message to the racist banner.

The City Council, after so much criticism, has decided to withdraw all publications with the illustration and publish a new version that does include Baltasar.

The fact of having retracted it hours later has not been able to stop the laughter of users and followers on the networks, who mock in different comments of the publication of the new image of the town hall. "Baltasar has returned from vacation"

In its new response, the PP City Council, led by Rafael Antonio Mateos Pizarro, has decided to qualify this year's parade as "the most inclusive and accessible", alluding to the opposition's comment.

The route will have three spaces where people with reduced mobility will be able to be on the front line.
