Christmas fever fills the center of Madrid

I share these photographs in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos in which we can see how crowded the streets of Madrid are on the Constitution Bridge due to the influx of tourists.

Walking through the central streets of Madrid these holidays becomes a complicated activity, due to the thousands of tourists who have come to the Madrid capital to enjoy the attractions of the city, such as decoration or shopping.

After the arrival of the cold, traditional chocolate with churros is the best companion to withstand the low temperatures and thus be able to visit the Christmas markets, such as the one in the Plaza Mayor, for the most traditional ones, or the one in Nuevos Ministerios, among many others.

Due to these expected crowds, the Madrid City Council has implemented the black level due to the high influx of visitors that the city is receiving during this long weekend, a measure that is activated when there is exceptional saturation in public spaces and transportation.

To this end, police presence and traffic control measures have been increased, specifically with 450 more Municipal Police officers, which could be increased to 850 on days with greater influx.

On the other hand, the hospitality industry is one of the great beneficiaries of this tourism boom, since it is expected to have a turnover of up to 70 million in the central area of the capital, although, however, the rest of the areas of the city will suffer the opposite effect.

According to Hostelería Madrid, due to the departure of many of its neighbors, the turnover of this sector will decrease compared to a normal weekend, reaching 30% less.
