CD Tenerife will play the final for promotion to LaLiga Santander

With a brace from Enric Gallego, CD Tenerife beat UD Las Palmas 1-2 at the Gran Canaria stadium and will play the promotion final to LaLiga Santander, starting next week, against the winner of the tie between SD Eibar and Girona FC.

The blue and white team, which started with a 1-0 lead in the first leg, was once again better than their eternal rival and scored two goals in the first half, through the mediation of Catalan striker Enric Gallego; the first very soon, in the 4th minute, and the second from a penalty, in the extension time of the first period.

The yellow team, who also lost Jonathan Viera due to injury before the break, shortened the difference in the second half with a goal from Eric Curbelo, coming out of a corner, although he no longer had the strength to try two more goals and force the extension.

A stormy exit from the yellow team was expected, but it was their rival who entered the match much better. In one of his approaches, a Corredera center from the right was headed by Enric Gallego, ahead of a hesitant Álvaro Valles, and the ball ended up going into the goal, after Raúl Navas tried to get it out. The VAR conceded the goal, as the ball had clearly crossed the goal line.

It took time for the Gran Canarian team to recover from the blow, but after half an hour of play they were already clearly dominating the game, subduing a Tenerife that was losing the ball. A shot from Moleiro and a header from Rober, both stopped by Juan Soriano, were the first local attempts.

Las Palmas, however, would still receive two more hits before the break. Jonathan Viera had to leave the field in tears, with an injury to his right thigh that he had been dragging since the opening minutes, so he requested the change.

Even with Gran Canaria trying to recover from the second setback of the afternoon, in extra time, an elbow by Raúl Navas to Mollejo in an aerial battle was punished as a penalty by the referee, after being called by the VAR. Álvaro Valles came very close to stopping Gallego's shot, which ended up in the net.

After the break, Unión Deportiva needed to resort to the epic of achieving three goals to force extra time, and also without Viera, their franchise player.

Despite this, he reached the rival area with some ease, he had his moments with Moleiro's skill, although he found the award from a set piece, after a corner kick by Benito from the left that Eric Curbelo headed into the net, winning the He fights Mellot, with 20 minutes to go.

Tenerife couldn't connect three passes to demand a very exposed opponent at the back and ended up defending their advantage with three central defenders, with a clear 1-5-4-1.

Pimienta's men claimed a penalty in a clearance by Juan Soriano that ended up hitting Mujica with the studs, which the referee did not grant, and they ended up with very fair strength, hanging frontal balls that Tenerife resolved without problems, confirming their status as the best away team of the category, to ensure victory and go to the grand final for promotion.
