Catalina Usme gives a historic victory to Colombia, which ends the adventure of Jamaica

A goal by Catalina Usme in the second half gave a historic victory to Colombia, which will play a quarterfinal for the first time in its third world participation. The 'coffee makers' have been the only ones capable of piercing the goal of a Jamaica that goes home with its head held high.

The 'Reggae Girlz', unbeaten until today, have shown great defensive solidity that has earned them feats such as the elimination of Brazil itself in the group stage. A heroic deed that ends here.

Colombia, for its part, continues to dream. Their rival in the quarterfinals will be the current European champions, England. It is the first South American country in twelve years to be among the top eight, and the only one that is not called Brazil.

Without Manuela Vargas, due to the accumulation of cards, the 'cafeteras' managed to keep a clean sheet while waiting for a goal that would come in the second half. In the 51st minute, captain Catalina Usme received the ball inside the Jamaican box and, with a left-footed cross shot, ended goalkeeper Spencer's tournament unbeaten finish.
