The Local Police of Castelldefels (Barcelona) has joined this weekend a campaign promoted by the Spanish Federation of Spirits to award a bonus of 10 euros in fuel to young people up to 30 years of age who, in nighttime breathalyzer controls, demonstrate that they have not consumed alcohol, as reported by the body.
Volunteers of this awareness campaign are the ones who deliver the vouchers, the amount of which is not covered by the municipal coffers, and which are used to refuel 10 euros in fuel.
The one in Castelldefels is not the only initiative of these characteristics that is carried out in Spain, since Espirituos España and the Local Police of Albacete and Almansa have also promoted the zero consumption of alcohol behind the wheel through a collaboration agreement with the National Union of Chiefs and Directors of Local Police (Unijepol) since 2020.
In the case of Albacete and Almansa, the fuel vouchers were distributed on Friday night to young people who gave zero in the breathalyzer control in the different areas of both towns.
As in the case of Castelldefels, in both cases a team of monitors from the federation accompanied the agents while they carried out preventive breathalyzer controls, providing information to drivers about the need not to consume alcohol if they are going to drive and proposing the figure of the alternate driver, who doesn't drink and drive.
In the cases of drivers who gave zero in the controls, they were rewarded, as in Castelldefels, with a mobility check for an amount of 10 euros exchangeable for fuel.
