In recent years we have become more aware that the planet is groaning and that is why it is necessary to preserve the environment, adopting certain behaviors or routines such as reducing, reusing and recycling.

In our homes we have already internalized practicing responsible water and energy consumption, separating waste or using products that are more respectful of the natural environment. All of this already emanates from us from spontaneity.

Curiously, in more than one country I have been able to observe how they coexist, in supermarkets and markets, with the sale of bulk products.

The word granel comes from the Catalan granell, which derives from the Latin granarium, a place where the cereals or grains that have been harvested are stored. With this practice, the consumer buys without packaging, being able to bring his own and choosing the quantity he really needs.

Among the variety of products displayed in bulk in some food establishments is pasta, flour, snacks, spices, seeds, legumes, nuts, aromatic herbs, cereals or fruits.

The advantages of buying in bulk are multiple, from environmental benefits by doing away with plastic to saving, since as indicated you buy what you are going to consume and the price by weight is usually lower.

We are very used to seeing fruit, meat or fish in bulk. But, just as in other continents the practice of bulk is very widespread, in a wide variety of products, being able to access these in supermarkets or neighborhood stores, we should all go in that direction. The direction of living without plastics in the food industry.
