Black crepe in memory of the former mayor of Colmenar Viejo who died in an accident

Mourning in the Madrid Assembly. A black crepe on his seat, and a minute of silence, this Friday remembered the PP deputy and former mayor of Colmenar Viejo, Jorge García, who died this Thursday in a traffic accident.

Before the minute of silence, the president of the Assembly, Enrique Ossorio, indicated that the Chamber "deeply regrets his death" and has conveyed the parliament's condolences to his family and friends. In addition, he wished a "speedy recovery" to those injured in this accident.

Ossorio recalled that García had planned to speak this Thursday for the first time in plenary, during the appearance of the Minister of Environment and Interior, Carlos Novillo, for which he was "very excited.

Next, he highlighted that he dedicated "more than 20 years to the service of Colmenar Viejo" in two stages, first as a councilor and then as mayor. In this new stage he was part of several commissions of the Madrid Assembly and chaired the Madrid Radio Television Commission. "Rest in peace," Ossorio summarized.

Jorge García took possession of his seat a few months ago when he made the leap to regional politics this term after being councilor of Colmenar since 2016. It was precisely the town's City Council that announced his death this Thursday and decreed three days of mourning.

For her part, the president of the Community, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, at the beginning of her first intervention in the Plenary, thanked the messages of condolences that all the parliamentary groups have conveyed to them.

After learning of the tragic event, the regional president appeared "dismayed" on her social networks and defined García as "a good man" who "gave everything to represent her beloved Colmenar Viejo anywhere."

"A big hug on behalf of the entire PP Madrid to his family and friends. RIP," concludes the president's publication. Also in his profile on deputy in the Assembly.

The spokespersons for the opposition groups in the Madrid Assembly also conveyed their condolences on their social networks. The leader of Más Madrid, Mónica García, sent a hug to the family, as did her Vox counterpart, Rocío Monasterio. For his part, the PSOE member, Juan Lobato, admitted that it was a "very sad" day and recalled that they coincided during the period in which he was mayor of Soto del Real.
