Batch Cooking weekly menu for the week of May 6 to 10

As I have told you other times, I write this column several weeks in advance. Therefore, I suspect that by the time you read this, a recent controversy on the most popular cooking show on TV will have ceased to be in the news.

However, I think it is worth remembering that cooking should always be a family, social, enjoyable activity; and not a highly competitive sport, nor constant anxiety. Cooking is an act of love with the people you will feed.

When the affectionate, tremendously human gesture of placing a plate of food in front of another person is preceded by shouting, frustration and fear of failure, we are taking away from cooking its magic and charm.

And the incident I'm referring to occurred between adults. In the children's version, when a boy is made to cry because his foam didn't set, or a girl because her spherifications weren't at the right temperature, I feel like making a recipe: hash for TV executives.
