Barcelona limits the showers on its seafront to face the drought

This year the beaches of Barcelona will not have so many showers. Each sandbank will have only one. The Barcelona City Council explained this Friday that the drought forces it to take this measure. These days the middle bathing season begins. Coastal services begin to activate. And the citizens are already giving themselves up to the sun on the coast to walk, sunbathe, have a drink... Many also jump into the water, but submerging is still mainly something for the brave.

This medium season takes place between April 1 and 10, every weekend in April and May and from September 18 to 25, while the high bathing season will begin on May 27 with the activation of the rest of the services in extended hours. During the middle bathing season, a large part of the services and operations are deployed on the beaches, such as the lifeguard service, which is provided in the 21 installed watchtowers, or the start-up of the public toilets, which will function 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will extend their hours until 8:00 p.m. in high season.

The City Council also reported that the tourist tax made it possible to renovate two toilets, one of which is for people with functional diversity.

And people with dogs will have 20% more space, going from 1,250 to 1,500 m2. In addition, this year the regulations for sports uses begin in order to make sport and other uses compatible.

In addition, smoke-free beaches are consolidated. This year smoking is not allowed either.
