Barcelona fully lives the apocalypse in this new Netflix film

This summer, the Netflix streaming platform premieres a blockbuster set in Barcelona. Bird Box Barcelona is the spin-off of the acclaimed horror, science fiction and suspense film Blind, a film that premiered in 2018 and starred Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock.

The original film, directed by Susanne Bier, presents a dystopian society in which the majority of the population has committed suicide due to the presence of a supernatural being, who gets people to end their lives through eye contact. Bullock plays Malorie Hayes in fiction, a survivor who decides to leave her house with her two children blindfolded in search of a safe place to live.

On this occasion, the Netflix film is directed by the brothers Àlex and David Pastor and will feature the actor Mario Casas, winner of a Goya Award, as the protagonist. The Galician has expressed that he is very excited and motivated with the opportunity and is looking forward to seeing his fans on screen.

The synopsis casts the story as a continuation of the film Blindfolded, but in a larger and more twisted setting: "As a mysterious force sweeps across humanity, a sinister new threat arises."

Although we will still have to wait until July 14 of this year to enjoy the interpretation of Casas and the rest of the cast, a few days ago the latest trailer for the fiction was released.

In the images that advance the content of the film, you can see how a Catalan city has been reduced to what appears to be an apocalyptic scenario with buildings in ruins, endless fires, destroyed roads, traffic accidents, mass suicides and dirt everywhere. .

The preview shows how the media warn that the strange paranormal force is coming to Europe and how thousands of people try to escape the effects of the supernatural presence, although without success in most cases.

Although Mario Casas stands out as the main actor of the film, the project has a category cast made up of Patrick Criado, Michelle Jenner, Lola Dueñas, Gonzalo de Castro, Alejandra Howard, Georgina Campbell, Naila Schuberth, Diego Calva and Leonardo Sbaraglia, among others. .

There is still a month left to see the horror film, but fans of Sandra Bullock's fiction are eager to see the European version of one of the most tense films in cinema history.
