The Prosecutor's Office of the National Court has requested the provisional detention of the young man investigated for his alleged responsibility in the cyberattack perpetrated a few months ago on the Judicial Neutral Point, the telecommunications network managed by the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) and which connects judicial bodies with other institutions.

The young man, who was arrested in recent days, has passed this Monday at the disposal of the Central Court of Instruction 4 of the National Court, which has been investigating this cyberattack since last October 20 after receiving a complaint from the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ). ), the institution from which the Judicial Neutral Point is managed, in which it warned of the alleged affectation of the hacking of personal data of taxpayers deposited in the Tax Agency databases.

After giving a statement before the judge, the Prosecutor's Office has requested his entry into provisional prison considering that there is a risk of escape, destruction of evidence and criminal reiteration, according to legal sources cited by EFE.

Investigators estimate that the young man could have accessed more than 500,000 bank accounts, according to sources, who specify that he is being investigated for a continued crime of revealing secrets. The CGPJ pointed out that, after the cyberattack, detected in the second half of October, "data related to legal proceedings" had not been compromised.

The Judicial Neutral Point is a communication system that allows centralizing and transferring requests for information between judicial bodies and institutions such as the State Tax Administration Agency, the General Directorate of Police, the Public Employment Service or the National Security Institute Social. The courts use it to consult citizen data in the databases of banking entities, registries and public bodies.
