Aragonès puts the extension of Mobile until 2030 as an example of Catalan economic dynamism

The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, has put the extension of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona until 2030, advanced by La Vanguardia, as an example of the "dynamism" of the Catalan economy. "It is very good news that it is organized here until at least 2030," Aragonès stressed this Monday during the celebration of the Day of the Company for the Promotion of Treball at the Drassanes Reials in Barcelona. The head of the Catalan Executive has highlighted that the agreement with the GSMA board of directors to extend the current contract, which expires in 2024, has been achieved thanks to a "joint work of all administrations". "Very prominently from Fira de Barcelona", he added.

The Mobile congress, Aragonès continued, leaves a "deposit" of innovation in the city and in Catalonia, as shown by the "dozens of start ups" that are created each year. "Now we have to get them to grow and consolidate."

Despite a turbulent economic situation, with skyrocketing inflation and the uncertainty of Europe's energy autonomy, the president has confidence in Catalonia's possibilities to move forward. The European chip project or the electric car are "opportunities" that the business and labor fabric must take advantage of. "We have to ensure that the industry goes from representing 19% of Catalonia's GDP to 25% by 2030", he insisted after congratulating the winners at the Foment event. For his part, the president of the employers' association, Josep Sánchez Llibre, has appealed to all administrations, political and social agents to make a "common front" that helps to overcome the current economic challenges.

Foment del Treball awarded the Medals of Honor this Monday to Víctor Grífols Deu and Raimon Grífols Roura, CEOs of Grifols, and Enrique Lacalle Coll, President of Automobile Barcelona, for their professional careers and their impact on society.

The employer has celebrated this morning the Business Day at the Drassanes Reials, where it has also presented the Carles Ferrer Salat awards. The event, which was opened by the president of the employer, Josep Sánchez Llibre, was attended by the President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, the President of the Parliament of Catalonia, Laura Borràs, and the Minister of Business and Labor, Roger Torrent. In addition, the Deputy Mayor of Barcelona City Council, Jaume Collboni, leaders of the different political forces and representatives of business and economic entities attended the awards ceremony.

In its 15th edition, seven companies are awarded: Noel, for its social commitment; Agromillora, for its innovation and new technology; Colonial, for its sustainable development; Chromogeny Units, for its internationalization; Unilever Spain for Equality; and two ex aequos awards: MiWendo Solutions and Roldós as SMEs of the year.

The CEOs of Grífols have been recognized for their activity in the last year. The company remains an industry leader in the production of plasma-derived drugs and transfusion medicine.

For his part, Lacalle held management positions in different boards of directors of companies such as his Abertis or Red Eléctrica Española. He was also a special delegate of the State in the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona and president of the Executive Committee of the same for eight years. Lacalle was a member of the board of directors of the Fira de Barcelona, executive president of the Barcelona Meeting Point and also executive president of the International Logistics and Maintenance Exhibition.

With the institution of its annual awards, the Foment del Treball employer's association wants to recognize and thank the effort and determination of outstanding personalities for their commitment to social and business development.
