Aragonés celebrates the return of Clara Ponsatí and deplores her arrest

The presidency of the Generalitat has issued a statement in which it "celebrates the return of Minister Clara Ponsatí after suffering five years of forced and unfair exile for her commitment to October 1 and the country's independence."

However, Aragonès in his statement added that "his return, unfortunately, did not take place in full freedom and shows once again that the repression against the independence movement continues and the quality of the democratic system continues to be undermined."

The president attacks the judge of the National Court, Pablo Llarena who "in his case against the independence movement systematically demonstrates the lack of respect for basic democratic principles, as demonstrated by this arrest warrant. An arrest that also violates her rights as a member of the European Parliament and shows that the Spanish state does not respect her immunity ”.

It has been agents of the Mossos d'Esquadra who have arrested Clara Ponsatí in the center of Barcelona to transfer her to the Ciutat de la Justitica, complying with the arrest warrant issued by Judge Llarena. The presidential statement does not make any comments on the matter.

Aragonés affirms that “casting the ballot box is not and will never be a crime and he hopes that Clara Ponsatí will be released immediately. Her arrest - he adds - shows that we are far from resolving the political conflict with the State ”

The statement ends "Today and always, from the Government of the Generalitat we will continue fighting against repression, for democracy, and for rights and freedoms."

The statement from the presidency of the Generalitat comes amid a severe escalation in the confrontation between Junts per Catalunya and ERC. The return of Ponsatí occurs in full pre-campaign of the municipal ones.
