Andalusia rewards a couple with 15 children for being "an exponent of the defense of the family for which the Board is committed"

The Junta de Andalucía rewards a family from Granada with 15 children, the Cuevas Benítez, for being a "great exponent of that defense of the family in which they believe and for which the Government of the Junta de Andalucía is committed."

The Andalusian Government delegate in Granada, Antonio Granados, has presented a distinction to the family, who received a mention in the category of 'Large Family' in the third edition of the Andalusian Families Awards, an event held in Huelva and chaired by the Minister of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality, Loles López.

The entire falia attended the event, made up of Javier Cuevas Guzmán and Belén Benítez and their 15 children, and they have been accompanied by the territorial delegate for Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality of the Junta in the province, Matilde Ortiz.

They have been able to overcome difficulties, unforeseen events, problems and day by day they strive towards the goal of raising their children in the conviction that "they are contributing in the best possible way to demographic growth and generational change", as reported by the Board in a press release after the event.

"Families are the most important thing we have and it all starts with them", stressed Antonio Granados, who emphasized that "all families deserve the same attention and the same rights".

The Andalusian Families Awards are convened with the purpose of granting public recognition to the trajectory of those people, families, groups, entities or institutions that have contributed and stood out in the defense of the promotion of families, in any of its meanings.

"We consider that the Cuevas Benítez family is a great exponent of that defense of the family in which the Government of the Junta de Andalucía believes and is committed to, and we have wanted to convey this to you today from the Government Delegation in Granada, his city and his home", Granados assessed.

The delegate added that these awards are "very proud" because they highlight "the importance of the family as the support of society and as the true strength of Andalusia, the engine that makes us grow and advance."

The case of the award-winning Cuenca Benítez family is very peculiar. According to data from the Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare, in Spain there are currently 147 families with 10 children or more and with figures for 2020, only 1 family had requested that year a large family title with a dozen descendants or more.

Large families continue to grow, but mainly those with 3 children, which with the latest data are a total of 440,232, of which 32,343 requested new titles in 2020.
