An armed group broke into the La Palma resort, located in Guanajuato, in the Mexican shoal, this Saturday, leaving at least seven people dead and one more injured.

In a statement, the Guanjuatense municipality of Cortazar shared that elements of the local security system went to the spa located next to the Polytechnic University of Guanajuato after information received at 911.

Instead, shell casings were found, three lifeless women and three men, as well as a child under 7 years of age.

In addition, it was indicated that a seriously injured person was found, for which he was immediately transferred to receive medical attention.

According to the information collected by the local authorities, the armed individuals broke in around 4:30 p.m. (10:30 p.m. GMT).

According to the owner of La Palma, the armed group fled "without first causing damage to the spa shop and taking the security cameras as well as the monitor."

For this criminal act, the Mexican Army and the public security forces of the state of Guanajuato deployed an operation in all communication routes with the municipality, supported by a helicopter.

"The Municipal Government regrets the events that occurred and will provide the corresponding accompaniment to the relatives of those affected, also reiterating the willingness to cooperate with the relevant authorities while waiting for those responsible to be brought to justice," said the Cortazar municipal authority.

According to testimonies collected on social networks, there were at least twenty people who entered and directly attacked this group of people who were in the place with firearms, with no reports of any detainees to date.
