An ambulance driver stole jewelry from elderly people while taking them to the hospital

The Civil Guard has arrested a 38-year-old ambulance driver who is accused of misappropriation for keeping a bag with jewelry and cash, when he was transporting a patient and his companion from Benidorm to Villajoyosa. The Investigative Court No. 4 of Villajoyosa is the judicial body designated to hear the case.

The events investigated date back to January 28, when a man was on vacation with his partner in a hotel in Benidorm and required medical assistance. After being transferred by ambulance to the Marina Baixa Hospital in Villajoyosa, the septuagenarian couple, concerned about the safety of their belongings, decided to take with them a bag containing 230 euros in cash and jewelry.

Upon discharge from the hospital, the patient discovered that the bag and its contents were missing. After filing a complaint at the Benidorm National Police Station, the Investigation Area of ​​the Villajoyosa Civil Guard Main Post began Operation Jewel Prize with the aim of recovering the stolen objects and arresting the person responsible.

During the course of the investigations, the agents suspected that the events could have occurred during the ambulance transfer, and after a thorough investigation, the involvement of the ambulance driver was confirmed. The agents have recovered the jewels, valued at 4,500 euros, which have been returned to the owners, who moved from their residence in the province of Barcelona to the Villajoyosa Civil Guard barracks, very grateful given the sentimental value that the pieces they had for them.

On February 14, the ambulance driver, a 38-year-old man, was arrested for an alleged crime of misappropriation. After the detainee's statement was taken, he was released, reporting all the actions to the Investigative Court No. 4 of Villajoyosa, which is the judicial body that has taken charge of the investigation.

These actions of the Civil Guard are part of the 'Major Security Plan', which includes the promotion of preventive measures, the dissemination of specific security advice for older people, collaboration with other organizations and entities to improve care for this group, and coordination with emergency services to respond effectively to dangerous situations.
