Alcoi vibrates with its traditional Moors and Christians festival

The festival of the Moors and Christians of Alcoi (Alicante) has opened this Saturday with the Day of the Tickets, in which both armies, in parades with around 15,000 participants, display their pageantry made up of warrior squads, ballets during the tour , platforms or floats.

Members of the "filaes" (comparsas), together with people from pageantry, musicians and festive officials make up this show that Christians show in the morning, starting at 10:30 am, and the Moors in the afternoon, from 17:00 hours.

Throughout the route, the 20,000 seats arranged so as not to miss a detail of both parades fill up, in addition to the people who find standing spaces behind the chairs or those who crowd balconies and windows from where they throw confetti and colored streamers as they pass by. Christians and Mohammedans.

This Ticket Day is the first in which the participants are dressed in the clothing of their "filà", in addition to discovering the secrets of the festivities, the captains and lieutenants of each of the armies.

After the massive parades, on Sunday will arrive the day dedicated to the patron saint of the festivities, Sant Jordi, while on Monday, April 24, the city will live under a gray cloud caused by the harquebus guerrillas to see who gets the fortress.
