Finally, the mayor of Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Barcelonès Nord) for the PP will be a man of Xavier García Albiol and not the one proposed by the Member of the European Parliament, Dolors Montserrat, who was number two for Vox in the last Catalan elections, Antonio Galician. An interference that Albiol stopped with the imposition of the candidate and his trusted man, the still councilor of the PP in Badalona, Miguel Jurado. Those who have also considered the candidacy of the Badalonian councilor to interfere have been the local board of the PP of Santa Coloma, which has submitted its resignation en bloc.
Jurado (Bujalance - Córdoba, 1951), in a brief message on his twitter account, has admitted that he is presenting his candidacy for mayor of Santa Coloma de Gramenet -where the PP has no representation- "to which I am linked by family and personal ties ” because he assures, “Colombians deserve a better city” and for this he is running, taking advantage of the experience of 16 years together with Xavier García Albiol to “apply the policies that have worked during his mayoralty”. The councilor from Badalona was responsible for Security between 2011 and 2015 and in 2020 for Social Services, until the motion of censure relegated him to the opposition.
In some areas of the PP, the departure of Jurado from Badalona is considered a bet destined for failure that will be noticed in Badalona and they compare it with the "fiasco" of Gabriel Rufián's candidacy as a candidate for ERC. Sectors of the PP consider that Jurado contributes much more from Badalona since he has a lot of influence in the Andalusian community and in neighborhood and cultural entities, where he is well known and, according to the same sources, has contributed to consolidating the electoral hegemony of the popular candidate .
Jury, apart from campaigning, will also have to recompose the municipal group of the PP since, due to the appointment of Ramón Tamames as a candidate, he has submitted his resignation. In a statement they detail: "Given the null recognition by our party (...) as well as the finger-picking of a candidate who at no time has been agreed upon with the local board (...) we have made the decision by absolute majority to dissolve this local board and resign from the positions we have held in it".
Graduated in nursing and podiatry, during the transition he was a member of the PSC and later he was on the payroll of Convergència i Unió as a position of trust, a stage in which he was director of the Badalona Urban Planning Area. In 2006 he was president of the Canyet Neighborhood Association. In 2007 he was part of the PP's candidacy as an independent councilor. As Councilor for Security, he was the architect of the controversial Omega Unit in the Guàrdia Urbana of Badalona.
