Albiach wants to dedicate 28% of GDP to social protection

“We believe that cures are as important as health and education.” With these words, the Comuns Sumar candidate for the presidency of the Generalitat has defended increasing public investment in social protection to 28% of Catalonia's GDP and thus "place ourselves in the European average."

This is one of the measures that Albiach presented this Wednesday afternoon in the cycle of conferences with the different candidates organized by the Third Sector Taula. In this way, he plans to improve dependency care and nursing homes, among other aspects. Also improve the working conditions of employees dedicated to these areas.

Albiach has said that his goal is to achieve the “universality of social services” so that they are available to everyone. To do this, he has opted to rethink aspects such as co-payment. The meeting has also served to remember other measures promised by the commons, such as increased investments in childhood policies.

In the morning, while controversy arose over the renewal of the Government's agreement on Hard Rock, Albiach proposed a line of aid to city councils to promote superblocks. The idea is that “anyone who wants” can extend the model established by former mayor Ada Colau to her city.

Albiach has received the support of Janet Sanz, councilor for the commons in Barcelona City Council. Sanz recalled that the superblock was “unthinkable” in Barcelona and assured that “political commitment” is needed for it to spread.
