Albert Rivera turned 44 last Wednesday, November 15. An anniversary that could have been like any other, eating cake with her daughters and his parents; but that has not been the case. The former leader of Ciudadanos celebrated his birthday yesterday, but he did so in one of the saddest moments of his life, since he misses his father, Agustín Rivera, who died suddenly on August 20.
A birthday in which he did not expect to have to live this way and, perhaps for this reason, he wanted to reflect on how he was facing this new situation. With pain and sadness for what was experienced during this fateful year, yes; but also with hope for what was to come in this new stage.
The Barcelonan shared an image on his Instagram account in which he wanted to show the cake with which he celebrated his birthday, accompanied by a heartfelt reflection for his followers in which he admits that it has not been "an ordinary year" for him.
"I am turning one year older, but it has not been just any year. This afternoon I blew out the candles with my daughter Lucía, one of the loves of my life. The other love is Daniela, my eldest daughter. And it is the first birthday where my father is not there, nor will I receive his call," laments the former politician, ensuring that "it is not easy to celebrate" when someone you love so much is no longer by your side.
However, precisely because of this lack, the lawyer decided to celebrate his anniversary with his little daughter. "Precisely for what he would want, I am going to celebrate, and several times if necessary, we will toast to his health," he says.
The former politician goes on to analyze what his 43 years were like, which he describes as a "complex year" in which he has experienced all kinds of things, because let us remember that prior to his father's death, he experienced his separation from Malú, mother of his daughter. Lucía, after almost four years of relationship. "With very hard moments, with sad moments... but also with beautiful and exciting moments. But that's life, beautiful, although sometimes it hurts, it all depends on the attitude with which you face it each moment and each stage."
Despite all the complicated and sad moments experienced during the last 12 months, the lawyer maintains hope for this new stage that is beginning. "I hope that these 44 years bring me serenity and happiness. And that the little things take on as much prominence in my life as the big dreams and hopes," he asks, before thanking all his friends for the congratulations received.
