The Andalusian footballer Sergio Rico is still in the hospital in serious condition after he suffered a spectacular fall in the El Rocío pilgrimage last Sunday, May 28. The former player traveled directly from Strasbourg, where he had a match the day before with PSG, to the Huelva municipality where he had the accident.

After the animal he was riding on knocked the French team player to the ground, he kicked him in the neck, which greatly complicated the situation. Due to the seriousness of the blow, the health services evacuated the Sevillian by helicopter and took him to the Virgen del Rocío hospital in Seville. According to a first medical report, he suffered a head injury and his condition was ''stable within gravity''.

Four days later, the goalkeeper's situation has not changed. Rico is still in the ICU sedated and his state of health remains unchanged: stable within gravity. The doctors have warned the family and close friends that each day passed is an achievement and that each hour can be decisive.

The goalkeeper's closest circle is going through some very hard days due to the uncertainty of what will happen to the athlete. His girlfriend, Alba Silva, declared yesterday before the cameras of some media that "everything remains the same" and that in this moment they "grab whatever" to move on and think positive.

The social response to Rico's accident has been massive. Every day, Silva and the soccer player's family have received thousands of comments, messages and wishes for him to get better and to continue with his life and his career.

Faced with such a wave of affection, love and good energy, Silva wanted to publicly thank all the nice words he is receiving with a very special Instagram story: ''I'm sure your strength will reach him. Thanks with all my heart''.

The goalkeeper played four seasons at Sevilla F.C., a team to which he owes much of what he is today. The club's response to the tragedy the goalkeeper is experiencing has been spectacular and, before playing in the Europa League final, the club's president and some players expressed their desire to win the cup to dedicate it to the Sevillian.

After winning the championship in a historic final, thousands of rojiblancos fans have sent photos and messages dedicating the victory to the player, something that has greatly moved Alba Silva and his closest circle.
