The Department of Economy has today announced the distribution of Next Generation funds in Catalonia. Through a new digital tool, which will be updated periodically, the department led by Natalia Mas shows how a total of 5,389.5 million euros of the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (MRR) funds have been distributed among 52,461 beneficiaries, until the closure February 2024. The global amount includes both calls from the Generalitat and the Government.

The company that has received the most funds is Adamo Telecom Iberia, with a total of 242 million euros from both administrations. The telecommunications operator, controlled by the Ardian fund, specializes in fiber optics for installation in the rural world. Next is Openchip Software Technologies, specialized in chip design, with a total of 111 million from a call promoted by the Government.

The automobile company Seat occupies third place, with 93 million from the Government and the Generalitat, followed by Telefónica (84 million from a regional call) and the railway joint venture made up of Siemens and FCC (74.8 million from the two administrations).

In total, companies have raised 2,748 million, through calls and bids, both from the State and the Generalitat. In total numbers, 97% of the beneficiary companies are SMEs although, if looked at by amount, they have received 56% of the funds.

Regarding research centers and universities, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center stands out, with 100 million euros, the University of Barcelona (77 million) and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (55 million). Among the non-profit entities, the Fundació Jaume Bofill was the one that obtained the most funds, with 16.5 million.

In the list of local corporations, the Barcelona City Council (223 million) and the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (57 million) stand out. The funds received by local corporations and public sector entities will revert to society in the form of bids to contract services and execute projects of community interest.
