A woman found dead with signs of violence in an apartment hotel in Vitoria

A 32-year-old woman has been found dead with signs of violence in the last few hours in a Liberé group apartment hotel located on Avenida Gasteiz in Vitoria-Gasteiz, as reported by the Basque Department of Security.

The Ertzaintza has opened an investigation in relation to the discovery this Sunday of the corpse of a woman in the room of an apartment hotel in the capital of Alava.

Apparently, the body shows signs of violence and, according to what the same sources have indicated at first, "all the hypotheses are open without being able to point to any as the main one."

Later it became known that the Ertzaintza framed the death of the woman, a native of Vitoria, "in a case of sexist violence", according to sources from the Basque Department of Security. The investigation and search for her attacker remains open.

Sources from the Liberé group, which manages aparthotels in different Spanish cities, have avoided specifying the time that the deceased could have been residing in the place even if she lived alone, out of respect for the police investigation, but they have explained to EFE that those of Vitoria they are short stay apartments.

That of this young woman is the second sexist murder of the year in the Basque Country. The first was that of Lourdes, who was murdered by her ex-partner on May 16 in the Guipuzcoan town of Orio, shooting him with a shotgun with which he later committed suicide.

In new information, the Basque Department of Security has explained that the body of the woman murdered in Vitoria was found together with her baby, whose state of health is good, although he has been transferred to a hospital for a full examination.

For its part, the Scientific Police is reviewing the garbage containers near said apartment hotel in the capital of Alava.

A 34-year-old man, ex-partner of the woman found dead in Vitoria-Gasteiz, has been arrested while traveling in a taxi on the AP-68, near the province of Zaragoza.

After the woman's body was found in the aparthotel, the corresponding investigation was immediately launched, pointing out the first indications that it was an alleged sexist crime and the main suspect being an ex-partner of the victim.

The inquiries carried out in the following hours have led to the conclusion that he would have left the Basque Country this afternoon, and could be intercepted and detained by the Civil Guard when he was traveling in a taxi on the AP-68, near the province of Zaragoza.

The arrested person will soon be transferred to the Ertzaintza premises in order to carry out the pertinent proceedings. The investigation remains open.
