A well-known Russian military blogger dies in an explosion in St. Petersburg

The explosion in a cafeteria in Saint Petersburg this Sunday caused the death of the well-known Russian military blogger Vladlén Tatarski. At least fifteen people were injured in the incident.

It is suspected that the deflagration was caused by an explosive object. In the cafeteria, called Street-Bar, a cultural meeting was taking place. According to the Telegram channel "Soloviov", it would have been a young woman who brought the bomb to the meeting. She hid it in a statuette that she gave to the military commander Maxim Fomin, known by the pseudonym Vladlén Tatarski.

Fomin was born in the Donbass, in eastern Ukraine and one of the regions most affected by the current war.

Since 2014 he was part of the pro-Russian militias of the pro-Russian entities that that year declared themselves independent of Ukraine. In 2020 he moved to Moscow, started writing and published several biographical books.

Last year, when Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered military intervention in Ukraine, Tatarski returned to Donbass and joined the Vostok battalion, part of the forces of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).

Russian emergency services report another 15 people injured. "It has been established that 15 people have been injured. One has died," a spokesman confirmed to the Tass agency. "The power of the explosive device was more than 200 grams of TNT," said a law enforcement source.
