The City Council of Xirivella (Valencia) has presented a request for the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office to act in the case of a student who allegedly beat up a teacher from a secondary school in the town, as announced by the mayor, Paqui Bartual.
The events occurred on Tuesday, when a student - who had previously had coexistence problems at the center - jumped over the fence of the IES Ramon Muntaner and entered a second-year ESO classroom - where they were preparing for an exam - to greet a friend.
The teacher - who did not know the young man - urged him to leave the class and, in response, the boy slapped her. Later, when the teacher tried to leave the classroom to seek help, she continued the attack, with punches and kicks, until two students managed to subdue the attacker. The student was taken to the Police Station and released that same afternoon.
The first mayor expressed this Thursday, in statements to the media, all her "condemnation and rejection of any act of violence." "It is obvious that what has happened should not happen in our centers. I am specifically very sensitive to what happened, since it happened to a colleague, it could have happened to me too, and it has my full support," she said. emphasized Bartual, a teacher by profession. He has advocated for "all going hand in hand" in the face of this problem and has highlighted that "from minute zero we are working with all the administrations, together with the management of the center, Social Services of the Xirivella City Council, also with the Department of Equality and with that of Justice".
In addition, he detailed that on Thursday he sent a request through the electronic headquarters of the Ministry of Justice urging the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office to act. "All the resources that we allocate to these types of situations are few, therefore from the administrations we must work to provide all our centers with resources and be able to help this type of students, as well as protect the teachers."
"That said, - he pointed out - the centers in the town of Xirivella are safe centers and I think we must all be united so that this does not happen again."
Asked if it has taken too long to act on the particular situation of this student, the first mayor pointed out that "we have known about this case specifically since January" and assured that "the Department of Social Services has been working on it since "minute zero with the Department of Equality". She has admitted that, for the administrations, "the bureaucratic issue may not be fast enough," but she has insisted that "work has indeed been done."
"The teacher always has that figure of authority and it is very important for us to feel protected from different areas. I think we are, but sometimes these types of things happen. There should be faster mechanisms to solve the problem so that these things do not happen. things," he reflected.
"And now I have last-minute information," he continued, "that measures are being taken to be able to care for both the family and also provide resources to those centers that are so necessary so that these cases do not occur again."
The mayor has added that she has "pending" to speak with the boy's family. "The father is a beautiful person from the town and I will be delighted to be able to talk with him and to give him all my help as mayor and as a citizen of this town." At this time, the minor is under the guardianship of his father. "And soon, let's see if we have good news and we can give them the help they need," he exclaimed.
Regarding the teacher's condition, he stressed that logically "she is quite affected by the case" and he has guaranteed her "all the necessary help." From the center itself, the IES Ramon Muntaner, they also demand help and tools to be able to solve a problem that "exceeds the management of the educational center." For its part, the Department of Education sent an inspector and a counselor from the Special Guidance Unit (UEO) to the institute yesterday to provide the necessary advice and support.
