A sofa with views, the main piece of furniture in a house in nature

Next to the Meolo River, near Treviso, there is a strip of land that is like a small island. The farm is located there with a battered house built in the seventies that was inherited by the graphic designer Maurizio Guizzo, originally from Veneto, but who lived in Geneva. Together with his wife, Paola Gherardelli, he decided to recover it and to do so they had the help of a neighbor, the architect Silvio Stefani (Metamorphosi104 studio). The starting point was the preservation of the landscape that has remained intact and safe from urban growth. The house was demolished and rebuilt to the size and proportions of old Venetian country estates.

Reclaimed tiles were used for the gable roof and, as in the buildings of the time, there are no gutters. The skin of the house is made of hemp blocks, with a 40 cm thick layer that insulates against humidity, heat and cold. All the ceilings and some walls are made with wood recovered from the construction site, while the kitchen and bathrooms have a concrete structure. The taste for authenticity, local noble materials and formal minimalism is also reflected in the interior design, with pieces from the Flexform brand chosen with taste.

The heart of the house is the large living room, which occupies the full height of the estate. The large windows with frames are made of painted iron and the pivoting doors put the interior and exterior in direct communication. Here, the Groundpiece sofa, with storage shelves and designed by Antonio Citterio in 2001, is the protagonist and has been placed right in the center of the living room. This best-selling modular system represents the quintessence of comfort, which is part of the Italian brand's DNA, and is especially attractive and cozy thanks to its large goose down cushions and support rollers.

In summer, life happens in the garden, the perfect setting for the Hamptons collection, also designed by Citterio. Generously padded modular sofas and loungers, finished with a gorgorán profile, an elegant manufacturing detail that shows the firm's strong vocation for sartorial art even in outdoor products.

The cold season is to be enjoyed around the dining table or in front of the fireplace, located on a wall covered with fire-blackened wooden boards that combines perfectly with the Lee armchairs, with the back and seat made of cattail. tribute to popular furniture. With the night lighting, the house is transformed into a poetic giant wooden lamp.
