Two years ago, a prisoner from the Brians 1 psychiatric unit managed to break a hole in the wall of his cell during the night and access the adjoining cell, where there was a female inmate, with whom he had sexual relations. In this case, the inmate used the metal guides of the drawer in his cell.
This time, the setting was the Ponent prison, in Lleida. A prisoner used one of the pieces that hold the radiator in his cell to hit the wall until a hole was opened through which the neighboring cell was now perfectly visible. The two inmates had been engaged in an intense discussion for several hours until one of them tried to access the other with the aim of attacking him, as he confessed to the officials who managed to subdue him and transfer him from cell.
The images of the cell, to which La Vanguardia has had access, show the intensity with which the man must have hit the wall with the metal piece. Not only did he manage to open a large hole almost 50 centimeters wide and high, but he must have injured his hands when hitting because the small metal bathroom sink, the walls and the bunk are stained with blood.
The officers on duty in the module that night were alerted by the banging on the wall and managed to subdue the man, who was very upset. No one was injured.
