Delta airline flight 1092 had to make an emergency landing on Wednesday at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (North Carolina, USA), after the front landing gear failed. A milestone that the passengers were in charge of recording.
"The pilot told us, we're going to land, we're going to hear a big thud and we're going to hear a lot of screeching," Chris Skotarczak, one of the 96 passengers on board the Boeing 717 plane that departed from Atlanta, told the Associated Press (AP). and he was addressing Charlotte.
However, the passengers highlight the good work of the commander: "It was almost smoother than a normal landing." Photos of the scene show wheels on the ground under the wings, but the plane's nose on the runway, this landing gear not having been engaged correctly.
In the videos published on social networks, it is observed how the travelers remain calm during the landing: passengers with their heads down and their arms clinging to the back of the seat in front of them while the ship tried to land.
Both the authorities and the airline say they did not report injuries among the clients or the crew, made up of five people. They all had to be evacuated via an inflatable slide, which extended from a door on the plane.
“We apologize to our customers for what they experienced,” Delta explains in a statement. In addition, they appreciate "that they have left their luggage and personal items behind to allow a quick and safe evacuation and we have been working to reunite customers with those items."
