A gas explosion in Villaconejos destroys the interior partitions of a house, but does not cause deaths

Fortunately there have been no deaths, but the house has been literally destroyed. A gas explosion, in the Madrid municipality of Villaconejos, at the height of the Aranjuez highway, at kilometer 51, this Saturday, has caused the interior of a home belonging to an elderly couple to be completely destroyed, according to reports the 112 emergency service of the Community of Madrid.

Javier Chivite, 112 emergency spokesman, explains that "the explosion occurred in the lower part of the house, which has three floors." "All the partitions and furnishings inside have been destroyed, he adds, but the structure of the building remains."

Inside was a 73-year-old man, his 68-year-old wife, and their 11-year-old granddaughter. The grandparents have suffered first degree burns on the face and hands and have been transferred to the Getafe hospital, located in the south of the region; while the girl has been discharged in the same place of the events.

Chivite explains that "the explosion has been very violent and has affected the entire house, tearing down the interior partition." To which he adds: "There has been no fire after the explosion." Of course, in addition, several vehicles parked in the vicinity of the property have been affected.

The Civil Guard investigates what happened. Four fire brigades came to the scene.
